Mapes dinàmics on-line: bases dinàmiques relacionals, PERL i SVG

Abstract

Distributed cartography has grown in complexity and accessibility together with the Internet, but it has not been until recent times, with the irruption of the Internet giants i.e. Google, Microsoft or Yahoo! that internet mapping has become broadly known by the public. This quick popular acceptance has created a big demand for on-line maps, but sometimes the professionals who have to supply them do not have the required technical skills to create them, so innovative and simple solutions have to be created to help them. This paper explores a way to create dynamic maps which change each time the database is updated and involves the use of relational databases, Perl and SVG.
