Critical mapping of the city

Abstract

During the last decades, the participation of politically committed artists has been the avant-garde of the development of a new very suggestive urban critical cartography. The general objective of this work is to assess the convergence between critical cartography and the arts and its derivations in geography. We want to emphasize the transversal nature of the map, which encourages dialogue between different specialists. Starting from the general analysis of the context in which these projects are developed and then focus on specific Spanish circumstances. Artistic projects by artist Rogelio López Cuenca are
used as example of this process.
