Els Treballs de delimitació municipal del Instituto Geográfico Nacional a Catalunya, 1909-1930

Abstract

The interest of the state to define and mesure the limits of municipalities has to be understood within the liberal desire to create a precise property registre during the nineteenth century. The cost and the unstable political situation of Spain delayed this project until the creation of the National Geographic Institute in 1870 that started a systematic work. This paper describes the historical definition of catalan municipal limits between 1910 and 1930, and the techniques and information obtained.
