Presència de neveres (pous de neu) al Priorat Authors Ramon Amigó i Anglès Abstract The objective of this investigation has been to find out in how many villages in the district of the Priorat had existed store houses to keep snow or ice to enable trading with such a kind of merchandises, in the same way as they existed, in the centuries from XVI to XIX, in the majority of districts of the Catalan Lands in which this was possible in reason of the presence of atmosphere temperatures low enough as they are registered every winter in the Priorat. The result has not been very favourable, with only five store houses detected outside the zone dominated by the Carthusian monastery of Escaladei, a community that indeed was active in this kind of trading.
