Abstract

The city of Sabadell was object of three cartographical surveys between 1858 and 1886 as consequence of several urban plans produced by the Borough Council in order to regulate the extraordinary urban growth experienced by this city during the second half of the nineteenth century. The first of these cartographical surveys was made in 1858 by the architect Josep Oriol i Bernadet. The second was carried out between 1862 and 1865 by the master builders Gabriel Batllevell and Josep Antoni Obradors. The third urban map was made, between 1880 and 1886, by the architect Miquel Pascual. With these cartographical surveys the Borough Council of Sabadell obtained very good cartographical information of the city, similar to others Catalan municipalities such as Barcelona, Badalona or Gràcia.
