Abstract

Laboratory practice is considered an essential tool for Biology learning. The author analyzes the types of practice, their use, advantages or disadvantages. The possibilities of computer-assisted experimentation are briefly reviewed and the different types of virtual practice are classified into animations, simulations and microworlds. Characteristics useful in good virtual practice are discussed and strategies for educational use are proposed. A list of web addresses with biological animations is included.
