Abstract

Glycopeptides (vancomicine and teicoplanine) act inhibiting the cell wall synthesis in Grampositive bacteria. The increasing number of infections by Gram-positive bacteria, mainly those acquired into hospitals, has been attracting the use of glycopeptides. These antibiotics have retained an excellent activity (with some exceptions as Enterococcus and quite recently Staphylococcus aureus), against Gram-positive bacteria.
