Absències i desajustos en l'estudiantat de primer curs a la Universitat de València

Abstract

The article exposes a synthesis of the sociological research The absence to the examinations of the first year to the Universitat de València that explores the scope and the meaning of the evaluation absence, that is to say, not to be present in the examinations of the student body of the first year. First, it has been calculated the rate of evaluation absence, an indicator defined for this work, and it has been analyzed his distribution and has been complemented with a series of statistical calculations. Later, the qualitative phase develops across groups of discussion. The speech of the absent students indicates that the absence is a phenomenon with multiple motives and that its linked to different factors as the profile of the part-time student body, the compatibility of studies and work, the dedication to the study different to waited dedication for the institution or the conscious decision that might be called the attitude of not the presented one. The research proposes a terminological and methodological quantitative-qualitative model who can apply in other university contexts.
