Water, blood and light (Regarding the relationship between religion and education) Authors Héctor Salinas Fuentes Universitat de Barcelona Miguel Amorós Hernández Universitat de Barcelona Keywords: Western culture, education, conversion, kind of life, Raimon Panikkar, water, blood, light. Abstract The objective of this text is to explore the thesis that, in classical thought as well as in the Christian tradition, a central aspect is the proposal of a certain kind of life. In both cultures, religion is proposed as a way of life that aims at the full development of the self. In this sense, education and religion coincide in their teaching purposes. Briefly, religion and philosophy, and therefore also education, represent ways of life to be cultivated. The cultural interpretation schemes of Raimon Panikkar are used as a backdrop. We played with the metaphorical figures of water, blood and light, as similes for the periods of Western religion. Three time periods that may be considered simultaneous.KEY WORDS: Western culture, education, conversion, kind of life, Raimon Panikkar, water, blood, light.
