Abstract The art theory essays by Catalan painter Fèlix Mestres Borrell (Barcelona, 1873- 1933) are one of his less closely studied facets. This article explores the artist’s pedagogical thinking in its historical context. Our main source is the text of the conference Orientaciones sobre la enseñanza del dibujo (1916), where Fèlix Mestres analyzes art-education in primary schools and he makes clear his position in favour of reformist currents of opinion.Key words: Fèlix Mestres Borrell, History of Art Education, Teaching Drawing.
