Abstract Adult education in the community of Madrid was clearly defined during the last decades of the 20th-century following three pedagogical models represented by social entities, establishments dependent on the Community of Madrid and establishments dependent on local governments, since these democratic self-governing regions came into existence in post-constitutional Spain. This article presents some indicators which shape the focal points of analysis: legislation, order of grants, concept of adult education, entities, student body, the faculty, volunteers, politicies about adult education in Madrid, projects, and methods.Key words: education, history of adult education, Madrid, pedagogical model.
