Abstract This work intends to demonstrate the importance of the political –a concept that alludes to managing the real world and includes the entire political sphere– in historical research, moving beyond the public realm into the private sphere. The article firstly looks at what we understand by the renewal of political history. Secondly, it looks into «the political» as a core element in political history. The third point examines power as the main feature of political history, inextricably linked to the political. The fourth point delves into the relations between political history and culture.
