Abstract This article aims to reveal the research on school photography that is being conducted in Extremadura by Research group SEJ036 at the University of Extremadura. In particular, an analysis is made of the production on this topic that has taken place in this region, the main existing photographic sources, and the work conducted to date both in the academic field and in non-specialised collections, which are becoming the main sources of images of 20th century school life in this Autonomous Community. Lastly, the methodology carried out in drawing up the School Digital Photo Library of Extremadura that has been launched is reflected in order to show the possibilities it offers as a consultancy tool for teachers and researchers.Key words: photography, education, teacher training, methodology.
