Els noms eventuals en català: una caracterització general
Abstract
Today, there is widespread agreement that some nouns are predicates and therefore admit arguments. Generally, though not always, predicative nouns are event nouns, i.e. nouns that, apart from having a referential function, denote states, actions, processes and achievements. Some nouns are clearly eventive, but others are ambiguous: these are theones traditionally referred to as nouns of action and effect. However, the two possible interpretations show semantic and syntactic properties that allow us to make a distinction. This article examines the analysis of various different authors in distinguishing between event or process nouns and effect or result nouns, and establishes a list of fifteen distinctive properties.Downloads
