Abstract

Rossellonese weak pronouns: surface forms and underlying forms Weak pronouns show considerable dialectal variation in Rossellonese. In this paper we present the forms they adopt, both individually and in combinations of two, in the final stages of a moribund dialect. The data we present are recent, from personal interviews conducted between 2008 and 2010. We give the underlying form of each pronoun, we justify the fact that it must be unstressed, even though when enclitic it is stressed; and finally we indicate which vowels in the surface forms are epenthetic and which are not. We also comment on the level of attachment of pronouns (the clitic group), and we look at some effects on verb stress, and show that there are signs of change in the pronoun en.
