Abstract

This essay aims to recover the figure of Lluís Bonnín i Martí, due to the great lack of knowledge that still exists today about his work in general and, above all, about his life, despite the fact that he is regarded as one of the best draughtsmen on the Catalan Modernisme art scene. On the one hand, we will briefly analyse his biography and artistic career, providing unpublished data and, at the same time, we will point out the great historiographical gaps that still are around him. On the other hand, we will talk about a series of sociological questions related to critical fortune, which will lead us to think about prestige, recognition and, above all, its reverses, that is, failure, oblivion or ignorance.
