Abstract

Francesc Maspons i Anglasell (1872-1966) was a highly renowned jurist in Catalonia and all over Europe. A son of the Catalan Renaissance, he very soon specialised in the study of Catalan law and its origins, and became known for his demand for Catalonia to be allowed to govern according to its own legal tradition. Maspons demanded the applicable right be «Catalanised» in Catalonia and, to achieve this, he used several tools, such as the Office of Legal Studies of the Mancomunitat of Catalonia, the Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation, the Catalan Legal Union and the International Association for the Study of the Rights of the Minorities of the Hague.
