Identitats compartides: Emmanuel Brousse i la Nacionalitat Catalana Authors Antoni Moliner Prada Abstract This article presents the dual Franco-Catalan identity of the French Republican Congressman Emmanuel Brousse in his political and journalistic work. His frequent trips to Barcelona in the context of the First World War and his relationship with the main Catalan political leaders encouraged radical nationalists to gain France's support for the recognition of Catalan nationality. The government of Spain, through the Ministry of State and Foreign Affairs, monitored his activities, considered negative as he was deemed to be interfering in the internal affairs of Catalonia. The E. Brousse affair erupted when, in May 1923, the government denied him a visa to enter Spain. Downloads Download data is not yet available.
