L'Esforç de Lluís Companys per pacificar i reformar el camp català (1921-1931) Authors Jordi Pomés Vives Abstract Lluís Companys founded the Unió de Rabassaires in 1922 with three main aims: to contribute to the pacification of Catalonias society and unions in rural areas, to achieve greater social justice for landless peasants and, finally, to draw up a clearly reformist programme for the Catalan peasant union movement as a whole, leaving behind the revolutionary postulates prevailing in most of the struggles involving farmers unions through the unsettled three-year period from 1918 to 1920. It can be said that, during the years in which he acted as the main leader for the Unió de Rabassaires (from 1922 to 1931), he successfully achieved the third of these aims while also remarkably contributing to achieving the first and the second.
