Abstract

This article reviews the public career and personal biography of Antoni Andreu i Abelló (Montblanc, 1905-1982), first-rate leader of the Catalan independence movement as President of the Front Nacional (National Front) during a short but decisive period in its history, namely the central years of the 1940s. He also participated, under Francos dictatorship, in the silent but crucial task of supporting and preserving Catalan culture, as well as playing a key role in restoring his hometowns historic heritage.
