El Pensament nacionalista de Manuel Carrasco i Formiguera. Un cristià demòcrata per la República Catalana Authors Lluís Barbé Duran Abstract Manuel Carrasco i Formiguera was a Christian, Republican and pro-Catalan politician present during Catalonias biggest events between 1930 and 1936. Thisresearch aims to study his ideological evolution. Based on his constant criticism of the policies of the Regionalist League, Carrasco strove to create a new policy as an alternative. In the Pact of San Sebastian, his aim was to lay the foundations for a Republican understanding between Catalonia and the state of Spain that recognised Catalonias prior self-determination. His views, linked to Enric Prat de la Riba, aimed to offer an alternative based on radical nationalism, republicanism and a Christian approach committed to social change. He was restricted by a complex situation due to his commitment both to his religion and to his country, which led him to fight for its independence. A friend of Basque nationalists, he insisted that this process should be carried out based on specific conditions of cultural and economic progress, a period prior to autonomy and internal civil peace.
