Els Estudis del paisatge a Catalunya des de la geografia: l'exemple de la Vall Ferrera Authors Albert Pèlachs Mañosa Abstract The landscape studies in Catalonia have increased in recent decades and it is very difficult to make a complete review. In this article we review which isthe role of the environmental history geography and understanding of the basic features of any landscape: space, time and culture analysed through the GTP model (Geosistema-Territory-Landscape), proposed by Georges Bertrand. The Landscape Law 8/2005 and criteria proposed by the Observatory to elaborate the catalogues used to discuss the importance of scale in the study of any landscape. The article ends with an example study of the environmental history of the landscape from geography in Vall Ferrera (Iron Valley) the last centuries, that demonstrate the importance of multidisciplinary work and complementarity of different types of paleobotanical sources (Study of Charcoal kilns and dendrochronology ) and documentary sources (written and graphic). At the same time it is important to think about up to what point the processes of specialization affect the landscape of where they are located and are the basis for the regional initiatives today.
