L'Arqueologia del paisatge de la Catalunya medieval Authors Jordi Bolòs i Masclans Abstract This paper defines the main characteristics of studies on landscape archaeology in Medieval Catalonia, compared to those of the rest of Europe. Thepaper focuses on its distinguishing features as well as those main landscape traits worth analysing. It also emphasizes the importance of doing research on landscape history as a means not only to delve into medieval society but also manage the country better in the future, after due appreciation of landscape as a silent witness of our history and, therefore, as part of our collective heritage. When studying the past, researchers draw special attention to the importance of gaining knowledge from transitional periods, especially medieval, Islamic and Carolingian, even from around the year 1000. The paper concludes with possible lines of research for the future, through eight examples of specific cases, accompanied each of them with a map. Downloads Download data is not yet available.
