Tòpics i llocs comuns d'una batalla decisiva: Muret, 1213 Authors Martín Alvira Cabrer Abstract The battle of Muret has generated since the nineteenth century an abundant historical literature, both academic as well as outreach. This contribution offers some reflections on various entrenched ideas about the genesis of this event, the own battle, their protagonists and their historical consequences. We analyze some clichés relating to the defeat of Muret, especially in the Catalan historiography, and the place that this battle deserves in his time and in ours. Our aim is to reflect on our perception of the medieval past and achieve a better understanding of what happened that Thursday 12th September 1213.
