Josep Amargós Samaranch. Els primers intents d'urbanització de Montjuïc: 1887-1914 Authors Guillem Fernàndez Gonzàlez Abstract In 1894, the architect Josep Amargós Samaranch drew up a draft project for the rural urbanisation of Montjuïc (rectified in 1908). It should be said, however, that the undertaking of this project began four years earlier with his urbanisation project of the Fransa. Amargós aimed to solve the habitability problems of Montjuïc and its environs, as well as converting the small mountain (at the time a wild and inaccessible spot) into a large amusement park. Consequently the City Council commissioned Amargós with the resumption of the Montjuïc park project that was declared for public use by law on the 16th of July 1914.
