Abstract

The article shows the close relationship between Pau Casals and the monastery and Escolania de Montserrat (choir) throughout his life. His relationship was particularly intense during the thirties, when Montserrat was a source of inspiration for new musical compositions as well as the setting for concerts directed by the maestro. Personal relations with the abbot and several monks from the monastery were maintained during Casals’ exile after the Civil War, with visits and letters, of which the article provides details.
