Three platonic situations of reminiscence Authors Jordi Sales i Coderch Facultat de Filosofia. Universitat de Barcelona Keywords: Plato, reminiscence theory, Meno’s Paradox Abstract We take a reading of certain platonic locations which traditionally illustrate the appearance of a doctrine of reminiscence. The ‘doctrine of reminiscence’- a prototype of epistemological apriorism and innatism- is dealt with mainly in the Meno, the Phaedo and the Phaedrus. If we diversify these appearances according to their dialogical situation what happens to the phenomenon of recall? It is placed against sloth, fear of diversion or as an attempt to move the calculation of the passive-loved one. It is the relations between what we could call the “common man”, the “philosophical man” and the “various knowledgeable people” that can appear to be altered through an acute reading of Plato.Key Words: Plato, reminiscence theory , Meno’s Paradox Author Biography Jordi Sales i Coderch, Facultat de Filosofia.
