On the one hand, it explains the theoretical framework from a social constructivist perspective that justifies it; and, on the other, it analyzes a particular mathematical activity in which conversation plays a central role. It presents several guidelines for observing math conversation in the classroom,which becomes a useful tool for analyzing the development of themathematical learning process of children and themanagement of the class by the teacher.
