Abstract

For a long time, mathematics teachers in all non-university educational stages have been engaged in a process of improvement: changing general approaches, adapting content, enhancing methodologies, addressing different student profiles, etc. Proof of this endeavour is found in the numerous activities and events dedicated to continuing professional development and improvement (in variousmodalities, and often with great participation) promoted both by the government and by associations in Catalonia specialised in mathematics education, headed by the Federació d’Entitats per a l’Ensenyament de les Matemàtiques a Catalunya (FEEMCAT, Federation of Entities for the Teaching of Mathematics in Catalonia). Amongst those events, two editions of the Catalan Congresses on Mathematical Education, C2EM, held in 2016 (Barcelona) and 2020 (Reus-Tarragona), stand out. In this paper, the conclusions of the former, the challenges outlined in the latter, and the initiatives developed by both are considered.
