Pau Vila, Intimate. Private Biographical Clippings (1918-1939)

Abstract

The article intends to analyse the life of Pau Vila (1881-1980) between 1918 and 1939 through a biographical approach that emphasises vital aspects which are intimate and private. The paper assumes that everything that is already known about the production, thought and academic career of the outstanding geographer cannot be separated from these lesser-known and largely unpublished fundamental aspects, which are studied in depth here. The methodology primarily relies on research in the Pau Vila Fund deposited at the Cartographic and Geological Institute of Catalonia. The work focuses on family, social and ideological issues. The latter refers to politics in general and his Catalanism in particular.
