La recerca en ecologia a Catalunya, avui Authors Joandomènec Ros i Aragonès Jaume Terradas i Serra Abstract Ecological research in Catalonia today. The authors review the research done today in several fields of ecological science at the universities and research centers in Catalonia. Terrestrial and aquatic ecology (limnology and marine ecology), from local to regional to global levels, basic and applied ecology, and theoretical ecology, are the objects of study of a good many researchers. They make different approaches, publish their results in the best journals of their fields and together have won for the ecological science being done in Catalonia the same international status attained by Ramon Margalef half a century ago. Research centers of excellence, direction and participation in competitive research projects at the local, Spanish, European and international level, indexed journals, and especially, a better understanding of ecological processes, make up a very consistent reality.
