50th anniversary of the Blanes International Fireworks Competition: Celebrating it with 50 chemical elements on a fireworks night

Abstract

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Blanes International Fireworks Competition - City of Blanes Trophy, we discuss the chemistry involved in a fireworks night. To do so, we go beyond the chemical composition of pyrotechnic devices by presenting 50 chemical elements, one for each year of the celebration, while watching the show from the sandy beach at the seaside on a warm night at the end of July.
