Abstract Innovation is the greatest challenge we face today if we want knowledge which is mainly generated in the universities and research centres to lead our society to a higher quality of life. The challenge is not easy for the scientific community, as innovation processes often contrast with the conventional processes of technology development. Fortunately, today we have many tools which can help us to overcome the gap between the laboratory and the market.
