Abstract

This articles discusses the development of telework as a logical means of organizing production. Telework is regarded as a logical means of organization made possible by the expansion of information and communication technologies throughout the productive system. This way of organizing work is analysed in relation to the conditions which make it possible: for example, flexibility, network organization, globalization and the so-called technical revolution or the newtechno-economical paradigm. Telework is the result of new production strategies being designed to delocalize the working class and it should be pointed out that business decisions have led to a variety of applica-tion strategies. This paper postulates that certain strategies of telework lead to a reduction in the negociating capacity of the work force and modifies the social relations of production by increasing the power of employers.
