Formes de modernització de la tradició

Abstract

Tradition is a term that is frequently employed in the social sciences, but one that often assumes multiple meanings and is used with a lack of rigour. It is often used to serve a descriptive function, when in fact it is normative and has much in common with theological language. The text presents its various uses, examines its presence in the theory of the second modernisation, and reviews discourses that defend tradition in the field of advanced modernity.
