Abstract

A. meridioceciliae is described and illustrated from collections made in Andalusia, in a Mediterranean environment, associated with Quercus spp. in neutral to decalcified soils. This new species is macro- and microscopically similar to Amanita ceciliae (Berk. & Broome) Bas. Analysis of the ITS, LSU and RPB2 genetic markers of both species clearly support their differentiation from each other and from other species of the genus, which confirms that this is a new species, for which the binomial Amanita meridioceciliae is proposed.
