La diversificació d'activitats com a estratègia de supervivència de l'agricultura familiar Authors Eulàlia Garcia Domingo Abstract This paper analyses the repercussions of part-time agriculture in the maintenance of family farming, through investigations which involved interviewing farmers carried out in Sant Joan de les Abadesses (Ripollès). This paper deals with the main factors that allow the viability of family agriculture: diversification activities, training, agricultural techniques with high value added which satisfy demand, and family help (emphasising the role of rural woman). The main difficulties of agro-livestock farming in this region are: lack of an active farming population (especially as the population is largely elderly and generational replacement is poor on the farms), low enterprise profitability, and lack of leisure time...
