Competitivitat de l'agricultura catalana en el marc de la Unió Europea Authors Josep Maria Argilés Huguet Abstract This paper reviews the competitiveness of the agriculture in Catalonia with reference to the European Union (EU). We analyze the characteristics and performance of the agriculture in Catalonia, and we compare them with those corresponding to the fifteen countries of the EU. Data show that the size of the farms in Catalonia is too small, and their results are comparatively low, to succeed in competition with farms of the EU and to undergo the process of liberalization that resulted from the Uruguay round of the GATT.
