Water resources and demands in Catalonia

Abstract

This article gives a brief description of the main characteristics of the Catalan water system, including the evolution of water resources and the evaluation of demands during the last twelve years according to the different management horizons, as well as the assurance of water availability based on the various river basin management plans approved by the Government of Catalonia for the planning cycles of 2009-2015, 2016-2021, and 2022-2027 (currently under drafting).
