Abstract

The garden of the Julio Muñoz Ramonet Foundation is a new historical garden in Barcelona, located at Muntaner Street. This garden has been added to the city’s cultural heritage as part of a legacy to Barcelona from the businessman Julio Muñoz Ramonet, who stipulated that it should be managed by a foundation bearing his name. After years of litigation with the family, the legacy was finally declared to be a heritage of the city in July 2014. The media spread the news attributing the original design of the garden to the landscape architect Nicolau Maria Rubió i Tudurí. This paper, however, establishes that the garden was, in the first instance, the work of Jean Claude Nicolas Forestier and was later remodeled by Joan Mirambell.
