Abstract This paper describes some experiences that the author shared with Jordi Peix as from 1978, in the first years in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of Catalonia. With Jordi Peix, he learned to relate directly with the farmers and to achieve that they saw the Ministry as a partner, not an “enemy”. With Jordi Peix, the Public Administration started to innovate to achieve a modern and competitive sector. Jordi Peix was a great revolutionary and innovator of the agricultural sector in Catalonia and even today we are benefiting from his legacy and his teachings. The author considers Jordi Peix to be his professional and spiritual father.
