Abstract

It has been forty years since science, technology, society and environment (STSE) education appeared in practice. In Europe, these approaches are denominated by «context-based education». Contexts are meant to explicitly relate the sciences and technology to socio-scientific issues. In this study a teaching/learning sequence in context about acids and bases is presented as is the experience of the authors in a Mexican high school and documented as a professional and pedagogical experience repertoire. In addition to concept learning of the concepts, this proposal allowed the development of fundamental skills in science.
