La Junta de Protecció de Menors de València durant el primer terç de segle XX = The Child Protection Board in Valencia during the first third of the 20th century Authors Cándido Ruiz Rodrigo Abstract The article analyzes the Junta de Protección de Menores of Valencia, in relation with commemorative Seminar of the Junta de Protección de Menores of Barcelona. Its presence is contextualised in the reformist background of beginning of 20th century, moment in which the childhood was the object of social, educational, medicalhygienist and religious interests and the State assumed its protection in agreement with the most susceptible elements of the society, that originated the «child protection movement». After studying the initial difficulties of the Meeting concerning its constitution, social place and absence of own establishments, the article revises the fulfilment of the work realized in accordance with the assignments that the Infants Protection Law of August, 1904 and the Regulation of January 24, 1908, established. It is specially outlined the work concerning the different Sections that were composing it: its performance in the medical - sanitary area, the exigency of education - moralizing, the protection to the delinquent children (Minors' Tutelary Court), and the fight against the begging and labour exploitation of the child.
