Educació, moviment obrer i krausisme a Mallorca: el pensament pedagògic de Baltasar Champsaur Sicialia (1882-1934) Authors Cristina Martí i Úbeda Abstract The pedagogue Baltasar Champsaur Sicilia, born in the Canary Islands, lived in Majorca for a large part of his working life. Throughout this spell on the island he came into contact with some of the thought streams that he would embrace and advocate in his personal and professional life; In Majorca he discovered Krausism, which he defended along with laicism for many years in the field of education, and also undertook a close collaboration with the Island workers' movement, which led him to take up a political stance leaning towards socialism. A very committed person, Champsaur participated in some of the most interesting cultural initiatives in Majorca of the end of the 19TH Century and the beginning of the 20TH, and also initiated what was perhaps his most important pedagogical undertaking: the creation of the Centre Instructiu Obrer de Palma [Workers' Training Centre of Palma]. Our work, by analysing these events and his prolific work, aims to bring the reader closer to his pedagogical thinking.
