Abstract The article presents the conceptual elements that have underpinned a training, research and projection action carried out at the University of Vic-Universitat Central de Catalunya, with the collaboration of the Virtual University Museum of Pedagogy (MUVIP in Catalan), and the Centre for Studies and Research in Education, (CRED in Catalan). Based on the museum’s proposals to build educational heritage from public history, the project pointed out references, decisions, and contributions to recover the oral and visual memory of retired teachers who were agents in the process of recovery of democracy. A practical research and training action that links retired teachers, active research teachers and students of the degrees of teachers and social education has allowed us to rethink the trajectory of MUVIP and pose different challenges that pedagogical museums face today.
