Abstract One of the most paradigmatic examples of making students understand in a refreshing way – what war means and its dreadful consequences, was given by the teacher Enric Gibert i Camins. The teacher who took his group-class from the Ignasi Iglésias School, one of the outdoor education centres in Barcelona, to see a war documentary in a cinema in the city, just when the 17th anniversary of the armistice of the Great War (1914-18) was being commemorated. The shocking images aroused and brought about some emotional writings, full of anti-war reflective elements. At the same time, the children (around thirteen years old) produced, and incorporated into their writings, some very realistic, horrific drawings that even today are an excellent unprecedented sample of writings about war seen through the eyes of children and which help us understand the History of Education.Key words: Enric Gibert, Ignasi Iglésias School, Outdoor school, war, New School, Great War, Committee on Culture.
