Ramon Llull, inspirer and pedagogue of civil religion Authors Pere Fullana Puigserver Grup d’Estudis d’Història de l’Educació, Universitat de les Illes Balears (Espanya) Keywords: religion, Catholicism, feminism, Lullism, modernity, education, Mallorca. Abstract The article presents the new fit of the figure of Ramon Llull in the civic and religious universe of modernity. Lullism has had an evident impact on Mallorcan society since the 14th century, in parallel to the knowledge and university and political debates he generated in the past. Llull was the Lay Brother par excellence and the father of the Fatherland and has continued to be so in contemporary times. We focus fundamentally on two large chapters, firstly one in which the changes and adaptations of Llull during the 19th century are presented, and a second chapter addressing the dual role —religious and civic— of the figure of Llull in the framework of the commemoration of the 6th centenary of his death, promoted by the Diocese, with the initiatives of Bishop Pere Joan Campins, and Palma City Hall, with the creation of the Institut d’Estudis Superiors per a la Dona [Institute of Higher Studies for Women].Key words: religion, Catholicism, feminism, Lullism, modernity, education,Mallorca.
