Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyse one of the questions that links Salvats poetic output most closely to futurism: the inclusion of machinery and mechanical devices symbolizing the modern world, and a set of values and ideals that define the aspirations and ideals of the new man. The analysis is carried out from a comparativist viewpoint with the purpose of revealing the affinities with Italian poets, such as Folgore, Palazzeschi or Govoni, with whom futurism first began. Similarities may be detected in the most prototypical aspects of the movement, but also in those that show a more complex, problematic relationship with the ideology and aesthetics of futurism.
