Abstract

Publication of a critical edition of the complete works of Pere Marsili has granted scholars access to the Latin chronicle translated by the Majorcan author on the basis of the Catalan Llibre dels fets. The fact that this chronicle is an early fourteenth-century translation into Latin from Catalan, provides Catalan scholars with an important focus of study. A comparison of the Latin and Catalan texts opens the way to further possible philological studies in the field of literature, historiography, lexicography, ecdoctics (literary criticism) and historical grammar.
