Abstract

The articles departure point is the existence of a tradition of historiographic works produced by the archivists of the Royal Archive to facilitate their everyday work, and it analyses the use made of some of these works at the end of the 15th Century and the beginning of the 16th, namely the genealogies of Ferrer de Magarola and Pere Miquel Carbonell, the copy of the Crònica de Sant Joan de la Penya kept in the Archive, and particularly the Cròniques dEspanya by Carbonell. The process of creation and reception of the Cròniques is studied, using unpublished documentation, in the light of the activities of their author and his successors in the Royal Archive and of the leads offered by the history of another of the authors manuscripts, the Memoriale magnum.
